Heavenly Perspective

Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand.  Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth.  For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God.

—Colossians 3:1-3 (NLT)

Heavenly Father,

Since I have chosen to accept Christ as Lord of my life, help me to regard my earthly nature as dead, determine to look at things from Your perspective, and allow the life of Christ to live in me and mold me into the person I should be.

Help me daily to die to my earthly nature which tempts me to be materialistic, pleasure seeking and superficial—not truly committed to loving and doing Your will.

Help me to fill my thoughts with Your thoughts—to see things as You do—so that my desires become those things that You desire and my actions become an outflow of my love for You.

Help me put into perspective my time here on earth, by comparing it to the glorious forever that I have been promised with You.

And help me to understand that eternal life is mine to enjoy now, because my real life is hidden—concealed and kept safe—with Christ in You.

Since I have chosen to accept Christ as Lord of my life, help me to regard my earthly nature as dead, determine to look at things from Your perspective, and allow the life of Christ to live in me and mold me into the person I should be.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.
