Bright Light Living

Do everything without complaining and arguing, so that no one can criticize you. Live clean, innocent lives as children of God, shining like bright lights in a world full of crooked and perverse people.

—Philippians 2:14-15 (NLT)

Heavenly Father,

In every moment of this new day—and in every day that follows—help me to be a faithful and true representative of Your Son, Jesus, so that my life is evidence that I am Your child.

I don’t want to complain about anything—because I have nothing to complain about!  For You make provision for everything that I need and use everything that I experience—turning it to my ultimate benefit.

I don’t want to needlessly bring contention between myself and others, by selfishly arguing just to show myself right—when You want me to either simply speak the truth in love, or hold my tongue and let You do the work that only You can do in others hearts.

I want to do everything that I do in willing obedience to You, giving no one room to criticize me—so that instead, others might see Christ at work in me and I might give glory to You with my life.

Help me to live cleanly and innocently—just as I should, as Your child—so that I stand out as a bright light of hope to those who are hopelessly lost and unable to find their way out of the darkness that engulfs them.

In every moment of this new day—and in every day that follows—help me to be a faithful and true representative of Your Son, Jesus, so that my life is evidence that I am Your child.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.
