Judging Fairly

“This is what the LORD of Heaven’s Armies says: Judge fairly, and show mercy and kindness to one another.”

—Zechariah 7:9 (NLT)

LORD of Heaven’s Armies,

May all my judgments be fair and true and may I show mercy and kindness to others—just as You have poured out Your mercy and kindness on me.

Help me not to stand in judgment of others, condemning them for their actions—for You are the only one who truly knows and can judge the heart of a person.

Rather, help me to show mercy and kindness to others—so that You might be glorified and they might be drawn closer to You.

Grant me the wisdom to fairly and truly judge between what is right and good, and what is wrong and evil—by correctly applying what I find in Your Word to each situation and to every person’s actions—so that I might continue to walk in the truth, and live in peace and safety.

Give me the boldness to speak the truth in love against that which is sin—which You have revealed in Your Word—all the while demonstrating through my actions, Your mercy and love for all sinners.

May all my judgments be fair and true and may I show mercy and kindness to others—just as You have poured out Your mercy and kindness on me.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.
