Let your unfailing love surround us, LORD,
for our hope is in you alone.—Psalm 33:22 (NLT)
Heavenly Father,
Be my only hope, LORD, and surround me with Your unfailing love.
I don’t want to place my
hope in my possessions. For what I have is not my own, but Yours alone—so much
so, that if it were all stripped away from me today, I would have lost nothing.
I don’t want to place my
hope in other people. For other people
are just like me: they disappoint, they fail, they let others down—yet, even if
they all abandoned me, You would still be my friend.
I don’t want to place my
hope in my position or my strength. For
You alone have given me the wisdom and power to become who I am, and without
You I could not stand—and yet, if all my wisdom and strength was swept away,
You would still uphold me by the power of Your mighty right hand.
I want to place all of my
hope in You alone—just as you want me to do—and allow You to sustain me by Your
unfailing love for me.
Be my only hope, LORD, and surround me with Your unfailing love.
In the name of Jesus,
Amen.
