When I discovered your words, I devoured them.
They are my joy and my heart’s delight,
for I bear your name,
O LORD God of Heaven’s Armies.—Jeremiah 15:16 (NLT)
Dear LORD,
May the hunger in my heart, to receive that which You would say to me, never be satisfied—but rather, may I hunger for Your words all the more, all the rest of my days.
As You speak to me through
the Holy Spirit, and by that same Spirit reveal and illuminate the words of the
Bible to my spirit, You bring great joy to my soul.
You show me truth—and
while at times it is painful for me, it is always for my ultimate good, so that
I can grow through my obedience to You.
How critical it is that I
continue to devour Your words! For in
them I find my strength and hope! For in
them I discover the responsibilities of obedience that I carry, because I have
chosen—and have been granted the privilege—to bear Your name, O LORD God of
Heaven’s Armies!
May the hunger in my heart, to receive that which You would say to me, never be satisfied—but rather, may I hunger for Your words all the more, all the rest of my days.
In the name of Jesus,
Amen.
