Healer Of The Brokenhearted

He heals the brokenhearted
And binds up their wounds.
He counts the number of the stars;
He calls them all by name.
Great is our Lord, and mighty in power;
His understanding is infinite.

—Psalm 147:3-5 (NKJV)

Gracious God,

Only You know and understand the brokenness in the depths of my heart—so to whom can take my broken heart for healing, but to You?

With infinite understanding, You count the stars of Your own creation and call each one by name—yet You choose to focus Your love on me.

You are intimately familiar with the wounds I carry—every hurt, every pain, every injustice, every disappointment and worldly betrayal, with which the enemy has tried to scar my heart.

You alone are infinite in Your understanding and You alone hold the mighty power to heal my heart and bind every wound left by the evil of this fallen world.

Even when I cannot understand myself—when I am at a loss to explain my own thoughts or actions—You understand me altogether perfectly and love me completely in spite of my sin.

How I need Your help to move my attention off of myself and to make You the focus of all my desires—so that in coming to know You better, I might then begin to discover who I truly am in You.

Only You know and understand the brokenness in the depths of my heart—so to whom can I take my broken heart for healing, but to You?

In the name of Jesus, Amen.
