Not Shaken, Nor Removed

“Though the mountains be shaken
    and the hills be removed,
yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken
nor my covenant of peace be removed,”
says the LORD, who has compassion on you.

—Isaiah 54:10 (NIV)

Gracious, Merciful and Loving God,

Thank You for Your faithful and unfailing love for me and for the steadfast covenant of peace which You graciously offer to me—even in the face of my rebellion and sin.

As I look to the most immovable things I see in all creation, remind me that Your covenant stands even firmer yet—that nothing will cause Your precious promises to change.

Help me to come to fully understand that Your covenant is not established by the uncertainty of my own merit—which would only render it weakened and wavering.

But rather, that Your covenant is established upon Your love, mercy and grace alone—which is from everlasting to everlasting.

Help me to live, believing that though this world may be shaken and come tumbling down around me, though others may betray and abandon me, though life as I know it now may be stripped from me, Your covenant of peace will remain—for Your compassionate love for me never fails.

Thank You for Your faithful and unfailing love for me and for the steadfast covenant of peace which You graciously offer to me—even in the face of my rebellion and sin.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.
