Just Like A Sheep

All of us, like sheep, have strayed away.
We have left God’s paths to follow our own.
Yet the L
ORD laid on him
    the sins of us all.

—Isaiah 53:6 (NLT)

Heavenly Father,

Like a shepherd lead me, along Your path today,
Guide me by Your voice within, to never stray away.

Just like a sheep, if left on my own, I will inevitably leave the path of Your will for me and follow my own path—a path marked by my own corrupt desires.

Sometimes, I do it blindly, as if I were sleepwalking—failing to open my eyes to the error of my way.

Sometimes, I fall back into my old ways of stubborn and willful rebellion—fully aware, but wanting what I want, more than wanting what You want for me.

And yet, always, even in my sin, You call me to return to You—having laid all of my sin upon Jesus, so that I might stand in Your presence once again.

So, help me to ask You for direction and listen for You to answer—as You prompt me by Your Holy Spirit within me, to lead me in Your way.

And help me to be obedient to walk the path You set before me, so I can experience the blessings of peace and joy that You have planned for me.

Like a shepherd lead me, along Your path today,
Guide me by Your voice within, to never stray away.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.
