Temporary Home

For this world is not our permanent home; we are looking forward to a home yet to come. Therefore, let us offer through Jesus a continual sacrifice of praise to God, proclaiming our allegiance to his name.  And don’t forget to do good and to share with those in need. These are the sacrifices that please God.

—Hebrews 13:14-16 (NLT)

Heavenly Father,

Help me offer through Jesus a continual sacrifice of praise with my life, as I submit my every thought, word and action, to the power of Christ in me and journey on—in His name—toward my forever home with You.

Help me to keep the things of this world in context, so that I don’t lose sight of the fact that this world is not my permanent home, but only a temporary stop on my way to a place which Christ has prepared for me.

Remind me that whatever I gather here on earth, must remain here, and only what I give away here on earth can be measured for eternity.

So may I joyfully and continually give a sacrifice of praise to You, with a grateful heart, as I boldly proclaim my allegiance to Christ.

And help me willingly do good at all times and freely share, with those in need, the things You have given me to use while I remain here on earth—things that are both tangible and intangible—so that I might please You in my sacrifice and so my time spent here on earth might count for eternity.

Help me offer through Jesus a continual sacrifice of praise with my life, as I submit my every thought, word and action, to the power of Christ in me and journey on—in His name—toward my forever home with You.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.
