Genuine Wisdom

Don’t be impressed with your own wisdom.
Instead, fear the Lord and turn away from evil.

—Proverbs 3:7 (NLT)

All Wise Father,

Help me remember that genuine wisdom is having knowledge and understanding of the Truth and making consistent, practical application of that Truth to life—while knowing that Truth can only be found in You.

Don’t allow me to think that my own intellect or reasoning will produce any wisdom outside of You, but let me pray to You to make me wise as I walk this path You have set before me—as You reveal Truth to me by Your Spirit and through Your Word.

Help me to reverently fear and worship You alone and turn my back on all that is evil—repenting of all my sin and determining to find Your best for me—by submitting my will to Your will for my life.

Grant me the wisdom always to seek You first, in all things, so that my life would be lived out in Truth—both in private moments and in public moments—as a testimony to others, for Your glory, honor, and praise.

Help me remember that genuine wisdom is having knowledge and understanding of the Truth and making consistent, practical application of that Truth to life—while knowing that Truth can only be found in You.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.
