Your Word

For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

--Hebrews 4:12 (NKJV)

Heavenly Father,

Thank You, for Your word.

Thank You, that Your word is not just writing on a page of paper, but rather is alive and full of power, active and able to accomplish what You intend.

Thank You, that Your word exposes all of the thoughts and intents of my soul and distinguishes my soul from my recreated spirit man, penetrating and bringing to light the deepest parts of my being.

Thank You, that because of Your word I can truly know myself and also know who You intend for me to be.

Thank You, for Your word.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.

The Light Of Your Presence

Blessed are those who have learned to acclaim you,
who walk in the light of your presence, Lord.
They rejoice in your name all day long;
    they celebrate your righteousness.

--Psalm 89:15-16 (NIV)

Righteous and Faithful God,

I want to be a man who walks in the light of Your presence all the day long, joyfully celebrating Your righteousness.

Through Your Holy Spirit, teach me to praise You at all times, for I know that I cannot even praise You without a touch from the Spirit of God.

Come with me today, so that my path will be illuminated by Your presence and keep me from stepping into the traps of the enemy.

Stay with me as You are so faithful to do, but remind me that You are here with me, so I don’t lose my focus and wander off of the path of blessing You have prepared for me to take today.

Thank You, that because of Your righteousness and faithfulness, You are worthy to receive all of my praise and honor.

I want to be a man who walks in the light of Your presence all the day long, joyfully celebrating Your righteousness.

In the name of Jesus, Amen

Song Of My Heart

It is good to give thanks to the Lord, and sing praises to Your name, O Most High.
It is good to tell of Your loving-kindness in the morning, and of how faithful You are at night,

--Psalm 92:1-2 (NLV)

Loving and Faithful Lord,

With each new morning, let a song of praise from my heart overflow to You, because of Your unfailing love.  And with each new evening, let that song of my heart be a song of gratitude, for Your never-ending faithfulness to me.

I will open my mouth and sing praises to Your name, giving thanks, O Most High, because Your love for us endures forever!

Use me today, to proclaim that good news of Your love to others.

May that song that I sing, carry me through my day and, when the evening comes I will sing a song of Your faithfulness to quiet my heart in the night.

It is only right and good that I should do this, and yet I am the one who is blessed in the doing, for I cannot lift up my heart to You in praise without receiving the far greater blessing from You.

With each new morning, let a song of praise from my heart overflow to You, because of Your unfailing love.  And with each new evening, let that song of my heart be a song of gratitude, for Your never-ending faithfulness to me.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Quietly Waiting For You

The Lord is good to those who depend on him,
to those who search for him.
So it is good to wait quietly
    for salvation from the Lord.

--Lamentations 3:25-26 (NLT)

Dear Lord,

I know that You have shown forth Your goodness to me in the times that I have depended on You the most.  So today, I choose to trust You, to seek after You and to quietly wait for You, as I put all my hope in You.

Help me only to look to my past in order to bring to mind all the ways that You poured out Your goodness on me or saved me out of the situations into which I had found myself entangled.

Help me to focus on seeking out Your will throughout this day in an ongoing conversation with You, through my love-filled prayers and my heartfelt worship of You, as I listen for the quiet whisper of Your voice.

Help me to not be anxious about those things that I don’t—and may never—have all figured out.  But rather, help me to remember that my part is to keep my peace, knowing You are my hope and You will provide for me, protect me, and save me, as by faith I allow You to be my Lord.

I know that You have shown forth Your goodness to me in the times that I have depended on You the most.  So today, I choose to trust You, to seek after You and to quietly wait for You, as I put all my hope in You.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.

New Every Morning

Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed,
Because His compassions fail not.

They are new every morning;
Great is Your faithfulness.

“The Lord is my portion,” says my soul,
“Therefore I hope in Him!”

--Lamentations 3:22-24

Merciful, Loving and Compassionate Lord,

Thank You, for the hope that I find in You.

Thank You, that I can have hope in You—that regardless of the situation into which I have managed to put myself, Your love will not allow me to be totally consumed by it.

I can have the confidence that I will make it through any circumstance because You have revealed the nature of Your character to me and have reminded me how, with inexhaustible compassion for me, You have always poured out Your great and tender mercies on me in the past.

Thank You, for Your faithfulness to all Your promises to me—that the profound emotion of Your compassionate mercies for me never fails and is new each morning of every day that I live, as You save me through Your perfect love.

You have given me Yourself—this is my hope!

Thank You, for the hope I find in You.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.
