Do Good, Just As He Did

For God called you to do good, even if it means suffering, just as Christ suffered for you. He is your example, and you must follow in his steps.

He never sinned,
    nor ever deceived anyone.

He did not retaliate when he was insulted,
nor threaten revenge when he suffered.
He left his case in the hands of God,
    who always judges fairly.

—1 Peter 2:21-23 (NLT)

Dear Father God,

I want to do good—even if it means suffering because of it, while I am here on earth.

Thank You for the perfect example of Your Son, Jesus Christ.  Help me to follow in His steps.

Help me, for I truly want to turn my back on sin.

I want to be honest, open, and transparent in all my affairs.

When I am insulted, help me to keep my flesh under control, so I do not retaliate, nor threaten to get even when I unjustly suffer wrong for doing good.

Help me rest in the peace that comes from knowing that my case is in Your hands—and You will always judge fairly.

I want to do good—even if it means suffering because of it, while I am here on earth.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.
