Identifying The Enemy

For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.

—Ephesians 6:12 (NLT)

Dear LORD,

Help me not to lose sight of the fact that my enemies are not people—nor is my enemy even myself—but rather, my enemies are the spiritual forces of evil at work in this dark world.

Help me to remain at peace with all people—knowing that You have made mankind Your most prized creation and that You sent Your Son, Jesus, as a sacrifice for the redemption of every one of us.

Help me to realize that the real battle is a battle to deceive me—to turn me from the truth of Your Word to empty lies which bring destruction and death.

Help me to recognize the spiritual weapons that the devil and his demons use against me, as by Your Holy Spirit, You reveal the truth of Your Word to my heart—so I can come against them with the authority of Christ, Himself.

Help me not to lose sight of the fact that my enemies are not people—nor is my enemy even myself—but rather, my enemies are the spiritual forces of evil at work in this dark world.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.
