Fully Armed

Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.

Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.  In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.  Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

—Ephesians 6:13-17 (NIV)

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for supplying me with all the armor that I need to stand firmly against the attacks of the enemy.

Help me to remember that in this spiritual battle that is raging all around me, the enemy will try to disarm me by speaking lies to my mind in repeated attempts to deceive me into believing that he has power to harm me—to persuade me to loosen the belt of Your truth, that holds me together, and allow his lies to cause me to fall apart.

Help me to be ready for his attacks against my heart—for those times when he attacks my emotions to say I am not worthy—by remembering my righteousness comes from Christ and by His sacrifice for my sin I am made worthy—spotlessly clean before You.

Help me to stand against his attempts to quiet my declaration of the peace that comes to all who will accept the Good News of Jesus Christ—and stand ready to run to the battle, allowing the great hope of Your salvation through Christ to cause me to carry this truth to others.

Help me to hold the shield of my faith in You before me so that the enemy’s flaming arrows of insults, setbacks, and temptations are extinguished before they can reach me.

Help me to protect my mind from his attempts to get me to doubt You and to doubt my salvation by blocking his lies with helmet of my knowledge of the truth of Your Word.

Help me to use the Sword of the Spirit—by speaking the truth of the Bible—to turn back the attacks and send the enemy fleeing from me.

Thank You for supplying me with all the armor that I need to stand firmly against the attacks of the enemy.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.
