This Light Shining In My Heart

For God, who said, “Let there be light in the darkness,” has made this light shine in our hearts so we could know the glory of God that is seen in the face of Jesus Christ.

We now have this light shining in our hearts, but we ourselves are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure.  This makes it clear that our great power is from God, not from ourselves.

—2 Corinthians 4:6-7 (NLT)

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for allowing the light of the Good News of Jesus Christ to shine brightly in my heart, so that I can know Your glory revealed in Him—and so I might give You all the glory, honor and praise that is due You.

Thank You that even though I am frail, fragile and fallible, You entrusted this infinitely priceless message of salvation to me, so that Your glory would be fully seen in me—that others would be able to see and know that my life is empowered by Your presence in me and that I do not stand in my own power.

May my knowledge of my total dependence on You, work in me to keep me from the foolishness of pride—and may that knowledge motivate me to stay in continuous contact with You as my only source of power.

May I take seriously my responsibility to let others see You through me by being transparent about my powerlessness aside from You.

Thank You for allowing the light of the Good News of Jesus Christ to shine brightly in my heart, so that I can know Your glory revealed in Him—and so I might give You all the glory, honor and praise that is due You.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.
