To Be Wise, To Be Patient

A person’s wisdom yields patience;
    it is to one’s glory to overlook an offense.

—Proverbs 19:11 (NIV)

Heavenly Father,

Grant me wisdom that produces patience with others and help me choose not to be offended.

Help me to be wise enough to look for and see Your hand at work in every circumstance and situation I encounter—that I might be patient enough to learn what You have to show me.

Help me not to embrace every offense that comes my way—but rather reject the destructive power that offenses would try to hold over me.

Help me be quick to understand, quick to love, quick to show compassion, mercy and grace, and quick to forgive and move forward, unencumbered by the past, in the joy and peace that You call me to walk in—that my life might bring glory to You.

Grant me wisdom that produces patience with others and help me choose not to be offended.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.
