Endurance, Character, Hope, And Love

We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance.  And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation.  And this hope will not lead to disappointment.  For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.

—Romans 5:3-5 (NLT)

Heavenly Father,

Help me to look beyond the pain of my present problems and trials to see the working of Your plan—a plan to help me to endure all things and to grow in strength of character and in hope of Your salvation.

Help me to see every hardship I face as an opportunity to grow in faith and trust in You—knowing that You use life’s difficulties and even Satan’s attacks against me to build my character.

Give me the strength to endure any temporary suffering I may face while I am here on earth—so that my character can be built up, my trust in You be deepened, and my faith in You be broadened, as You show Yourself to be faithful and trustworthy through all things.

I know that as long as my hope is in You alone, I will never be disappointed, because I know how much You dearly love me—for Your Holy Spirit fills my heart with Your love.

Help me to look beyond the pain of my present problems and trials to see the working of Your plan—a plan to help me to endure all things and to grow in strength of character and in hope of Your salvation.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.
