Words Of Encouragement

Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them.

—Ephesians 4:29 (NLT)

Father God,

Let every word I say be an encouragement to anyone who might hear them.

Help me never to speak words that are foul, corrupt, polluting, hurtful or abusive—poisoning the minds and infecting the hearts of others with evil.

Help me rather to speak words that are wholesome, helpful, truthful, and that encourage the spiritual growth of others—always spoken at the right time and appropriate for the occasion.

Help me to remember that there may be those to whom I am not directly speaking, who will overhear my words—so let me always represent my Savior well in what I say.

Let every word I say be an encouragement to anyone who might hear them.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.
