Be Still In The Presence

Be still in the presence of the LORD,
and wait patiently for him to act.
Don’t worry about evil people who prosper
or fret about their wicked schemes.

—Psalm 37:7 (NLT)

Heavenly Father,

By the power of Your magnificent presence, quiet my noisy mind, cause me to leave my busyness behind, and make me still before You that I might hear from You—so the eyes of my understanding might be opened to that which You are doing, both in me and around me.

Help me rest confidently in Your loving presence—far from the restless anxiousness of this life—content to be where You have me now, and watching for Your hand at work in my life.

With great—but patient—anticipation, help me look for the unfolding of Your plans before me—knowing that You are constantly at work to bring about Your best for me in the end.

Help me not to get caught up in fretting over those who, in the natural, seem to be getting away with their evil schemes—who make a game of life and appear to be winning, because they play that game by their own set of rules.

Help me be still in Your presence and live out my life by Your rules, without compromising the truth, knowing You will set all things right—every hurt, every offense, every injustice—according to Your perfect timing, plan and purpose.

By the power of Your magnificent presence, quiet my noisy mind, cause me to leave my busyness behind, and make me still before You that I might hear from You-- so that You might open the eyes of my understanding to that which You are doing both in me and around me.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.
