“My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the LORD.
“And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.—Isaiah 55:8 (NLT)
Heavenly Father,
How limited I am in my understanding and yet, how gracious You are—when I put my trust in You—to show me things I could never come to understand on my own!
You are the Sovereign LORD—my infinitely
powerful, infinitely present, infinitely wise, infinitely loving, Heavenly
Father. Why would I ever depend on my
own understanding, or assume Your thoughts would be like mine?
Show me how the finiteness
of my mind—and sin’s assault on truth which distorts my thinking—keep me from having
any hope of ever fully understanding Your thoughts and ways.
Let me not forget how I am
totally dependent on You—and help me to more fully trust in Your love for me and
Your complete knowledge of, and provision for, everything that I need.
Draw me close and help me
to see and pursue the truth that a greater understanding of You only comes from
a more personal and intimate relationship with You.
How limited I am in my understanding and yet, how gracious You are—when I put my trust in You—to show me things I could never come to understand on my own!
In the name of Jesus,
Amen.
