To Search For And Continually Seek Him

Search for the LORD and for his strength;
    continually seek him.
Remember the wonders he has performed,
his miracles, and the rulings he has given,
you children of his servant Abraham,
you descendants of Jacob, his chosen ones.

—Psalm 105:4-6 (NLT)

Heavenly Father,

Where can I go to find strength, but to You?  Help me find my strength in You, that my heart may remain fixed on continually seeking You—Your will, Your plans, Your purposes for me!

Help me to remember that, just as You choose the descendants of Abraham and Jacob as Your own, You choose me and received me as Your own—when I accepted the freely offered invitation of the Holy Spirit to find my salvation through Your Son, Jesus Christ.

And help me to remember all the wonders that You have performed, Your miracles, and the rulings and instructions that You have given—both as recorded in the Bible and as written upon the pages of my own life.

But don’t just help me to remember, also help me to respond to that love You so graciously demonstrated, by believing You and showing my gratitude to You in faithful obedience to everything You have taught me.

Help me to seek out Your strength—that strength that comes from the Word and the Holy Spirit, which by Your grace and mercy are alive and active in me, to give me the power to follow after You in obedience.

Then help me to use that strength to search for more of You in my life all the rest of my days here on earth, until You take me to be forever with You there.

Where can I go to find strength, but to You?  Help me find my strength in You, that my heart may remain fixed on continually seeking You—Your will, Your plans, Your purposes for me!

In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Making Every Thought Obedient

For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does.  The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.  We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

—2 Corinthians 10:3-5 (NIV)

Heavenly Father,

Help me always to remember this:  the battles I must fight in this life are fought in my heart and mind.  But the weapons You have given me to use to fight each battle are divinely powerful and able to destroy anything that comes against me, in an attempt to set itself up against the Truth.

Thank You that my battles are not like those of the world which, when waged in the flesh, only bring misery and destruction to all.

Thank You that You have given me divine weapons to use which will ensure my victory in the spiritual battles I must fight for the control of my heart and mind—the weapons of prayer, the power of Truth of Your Word proclaimed, the witness of Your Holy Spirit with my spirit, and my authority in Christ as Your child.

Help me to examine carefully every thought or argument that enters my mind and hold it captive and isolated—unable to escape, deceive, or influence in any way—until such time as it conforms to, and agrees with, and is obedient to Truth, as measured by Christ.

Help me always to remember this:  the battles I must fight in this life are fought in my heart and mind.  But the weapons You have given me to use to fight each battle are divinely powerful and able to destroy anything that comes against me, in an attempt to set itself up against the Truth.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.

You Satisfy Every Need

“He is the God who made the world and everything in it. Since he is Lord of heaven and earth, he doesn’t live in man-made temples, and human hands can’t serve his needs—for he has no needs. He himself gives life and breath to everything, and he satisfies every need.”

—Acts 17:24-25 (NLT)

All Sufficient God,

From nothing, You created all that there is, in heaven and on earth, and You give life and breath to everything that exists—satisfying every need of Your creation.

Help me not to allow the vain imaginations of my mind to restrict my understanding of, my acceptance of, my experience of, or my belief in, Your all-encompassing Power and Majesty.

Help me to remember that You are not dependent on me in any way—that You don’t need me to help You to accomplish Your plan and purposes.

But thank You that You do allow me to be involved in the accomplishment of those plans and purposes—when I, in willingly obedience, submit myself to Your will for my life.

Fill my heart with the understanding that, apart from You, I can do nothing.  For You are the One who not only breathed the breath of life into me, but are also the One who continues to give me life with every breath I take. You completely satisfy my every need.

From nothing, You created all that there is, in heaven and on earth, and You give life and breath to everything that exists—satisfying every need of Your creation.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.
