Being Still In Your Presence

“The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still.”

—Exodus 14:14 (NIV)

The LORD replied, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”

—Exodus 33:14 (NIV)

You will make known to me the path of life;
In Your presence is fullness of joy;
In Your right hand there are pleasures forever.

—Psalm 16:11 (NASB)

Heavenly Father,

When I grow weary of the fight, when I long for peace and rest, when I don’t know what to do, remind me that You are waiting for me to be still in Your Presence—so that You can fight for me, give me rest, and show me the way I should go, in order that I might experience the fullness of joy and the pleasures that are mine, as You hold me in Your hand forevermore.

Show me the insanity of trying to fight on my own—when if I will be still in Your Presence, You will show me how You already are, and always have been, fighting for me.

Show me the insanity of trying to find rest anywhere other than in Your Presence—for only there can my mind be quieted, my will become submitted to Yours, and my emotions find the serenity I long for.

Show me the insanity of trying to find my way outside of Your Presence—for only You can light the path of life for me and show me the joys of obediently living in Your Presence here on earth, until You take me home to be with You forever.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.
