With Silent Expectation

I wait quietly before God,
for my victory comes from him.
He alone is my rock and my salvation,
my fortress where I will never be shaken.

—Psalm 62:1-2 (NLT)

Almighty God,

No matter the dangers or difficulties that I may face, with certainty of heart, may I always wait in silent expectation for that saving victory that can only come from You.

Help me to continue in a right relationship with You—understanding the part You play in our relationship, as my Sovereign God, and the part that You expect me to play, as Your child—so that I may remain content in whatever circumstance or situation that I face, in complete confidence that You will either deliver me from it, or carry me through it every time.

Help me not to complain against what You do, but with serenity of spirit, help me to make Your will my own, knowing You are the firm and immovable rock that my life is built upon and my only salvation.

Help me find that You are my strong fortress where I can find quiet shelter from the storms that rage against me—and never be shaken by their fury.

No matter the dangers or difficulties that I may face, with certainty of heart, may I always wait in silent expectation for that saving victory that can only come from You.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.
