The Hope That Is In Me

But in your hearts set Christ apart as holy [and acknowledge Him] as Lord. Always be ready to give a logical defense to anyone who asks you to account for the hope that is in you, but do it courteously and respectfully.

—1 Peter 3:15 (AMP)

Heavenly Father,

May the Holiness and Lordship of Christ be so established in my heart, that it causes people to ask me about the hope that is in me—and may I always be ready to respectfully give an answer that will help them find that same hope.

May I never so fear what man might do to me that I fail to speak out about what Christ has done for me.

Let the only fear that remains in me be that reverential fear of You—my LORD GOD—as I stand humbly before You and rely solely on Your power to sustain me.

Help me to place all of my confidence in Your faithfulness to me as I submit myself to Your will—and trust in Your wisdom to direct my every thought, word and action.

Help me as I work to reflect Christ’s love in all that I do—that He alone might be glorified in my life.

Let every word that I speak be delivered respectfully—with humility, courtesy and gentleness—so that my heart for You, and for them, may be heard above all else.

May the Holiness and Lordship of Christ be so established in my heart, that it causes people to ask me about the hope that is in me—and may I always be ready to respectfully give an answer that will help them find that same hope.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.
