The heart of the godly thinks carefully before speaking;
the mouth of the wicked overflows with evil words.--Proverbs 15:28 (NLT)
Dear God,
I want to be a man who carefully considers the words that come to my mind, before I release them to slip across the threshold of my lips into eternity.
I want to be
a godly man, who tests my thoughts to see if they rise to my mind from my
spirit—my recreated heart—or are a trap of lies from the enemy meant to kill,
steal and destroy. For I know that any
thought which flows from my spirit, will have its origin in Your Spirit and
will be filled with truth, faith, hope and love.
Help me not
to be like the wicked, who either purpose to cause pain by the words that they
hurl towards others, or simply don’t care what impact the careless overflow
from their lips may have, as they speak whatever comes to mind.
I want to be a man who carefully considers the words that come to my mind, before I release them to slip across the threshold of my lips into eternity.
In the name
of Jesus, Amen.
