Now when the devil had ended every temptation, he departed from Him until an opportune time.--Luke 4:13 (NKJV)
Dear Lord,
Help me to remember that my victory over a temptation is just a battle won within a war that rages on—that the enemy will be back.
Thank You
that because of Your Son, Jesus, I can have victory over the temptations that
come my way. Thank You that I can resist
the attacks of the enemy by knowing and speaking Your Word, just as He did.
Thank You
that as I stay in close fellowship with You, filling myself with Your Word and
allowing Your Spirit to fill my heart with Your presence and power, that the
temptations are fewer and more easily resisted.
But don’t
let me forget that walking in a season where the temptations are not as
frequent or as strong, doesn’t mean that the enemy is finished trying.
Keep me mindful that I must always stand
guard over my heart, because the enemy will always be looking for another opportunity to attack.
Help me to remember that my victory over a temptation is just a battle won within a war that rages on—that the enemy will be back.
In the name
of Jesus, Amen.
