Christ, My True Treasure

“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.  But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal; for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

—Matthew 6:19-21 (NASB)

Heavenly Father,

Help me to remember that all the treasure I truly need is found in Christ.

Don’t let me allow the distractions and attractions of this world to become a quickly vanishing treasure that I get lost in seeking after, during the short time I am here on earth.

Help me remember that only the treasures that I lay up for myself in heaven are truly mine to keep.

And so, help me to keep my heart set on things eternal—things that cannot be destroyed and cannot be taken from me—holding what You bless me with in the here and now in open hands raised to You.

Help me to remember that all the treasure I truly need is found in Christ.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.
