The human body has many parts, but the many parts make up one whole body. So it is with the body of Christ.
–1 Corinthians 12:12 (NLT)
Heavenly
Father,
Thank You that You made me with specific gifts so I could fill a unique function within the body of Christ—which is His church.
Thank You
that just like our bodies have many parts—specifically designed to make a unique
and vital contribution to the body as a whole—so we all are specifically designed
to make a unique and vital contribution to the church as a whole.
Thank You
that I don’t have the responsibility to perform all the functions of the whole
body—that just because something needs to be done, that
doesn’t necessarily mean that I am the one who is supposed to do it.
Thank You
that I am called to work within the gifts and talents You have placed in me, so
that I can be effective in what I do and truly fulfill Your plan for me within
the body.
Help me to
not fall into the trap of comparing myself to others, either thinking that I
don’t have anything worthy to contribute to the body of believers, or that
somehow my contribution is more vital than others.
Help me to
celebrate how each part interdependently contributes to the whole and encourage
others to use their individual gifts and talents for His glory, as God
orchestrates us all to work together to accomplish His plans and purposes.
Thank You that You made me with specific gifts so I could fill a unique function within the body of Christ—which is His church.
In the name
of Jesus, Amen.
