The God Who Lives Among Us

“For the LORD your God is living among you.
    He is a mighty savior.
He will take delight in you with gladness.
With his love, he will calm all your fears.
He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.”

Zephaniah 3:17 (NLT)

Dear LORD my God,

Since You live among Your people, help me to make space in my heart for You—so that You will fill my life with Your Presence and live with me all the days of my life.

For You are a mighty Savior—the Almighty Prevailing God—who redeems me from the power of sin over me, from the guilt with which my sin burdens me, and from the pollution that defiles me as a result of my sin.

As I repent of my sin and accept so great a salvation, You help me to live in obedience to You—and as I do, You gladly delight in me.

Because of Your great love, my fears are calmed and I am kept safe in every way—for I know that since You did not withhold salvation from me, there is no good thing that You would not freely give to me.

And now, You will sing over me with joyful songs—remembering my sin no more, but counting me righteous in Your sight.

Since You live among Your people, help me to make space in my heart for You—so that You will fill my life with Your Presence and live with me all the days of my life.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.
